I’m State Representative Tangie Herring — a lifelong classroom teacher, small business owner, and advocate for neighborhood revitalization and affordable housing. I stepped up to serve in the Georgia House of Representatives to give back to the community I love, and now I’m running for re-election to continue putting my experience and passion to work for you.

Macon is my home. From Bloomfield to Rutland to Beall’s Hill, my roots here run deep. I was born here and took my first steps in my grandmother’s home in Bloomfield, where I lived with my mother while my father—a career airman—was deployed to Vietnam. It was here that I first witnessed the transformational power of neighbors working together for the good of the entire community.

Growing up as a member of Greater Vineville Baptist Church, I learned the importance of grace and embraced a faith that still sustains me today. It gives me the strength to take on the right fights—without fear.

Inspired by strong, visionary women who taught me never to settle for the status quo, I dedicated three decades to teaching and opening doors for our next generation of leaders. I earned education degrees from Georgia College, Fort Valley State University, Mercer University, and Georgia State University. Because I know how essential literacy and family are, I also authored a children’s book, When I Look Into My Daughter’s Eyes, dedicated to my daughter.

Now, I serve as your State Representative in the Georgia House. I stepped into this role because I believe in Macon’s promise—and I’m committed to helping us realize it. This is a special place with unlimited potential. But if we want to see our community blossom, we can’t keep doing the same things and expecting different results.

I’m using my years of experience in education, advocacy, and service to fight for safer neighborhoods, revitalized communities, and real opportunity for everyone. We won’t settle for less.

I’m State Representative Tangie Herring, and I invite you to join me in this fight to unlock a better future for EVERYONE. I look forward to earning your vote.
