Born and raised in Macon, Georgia, Tangie’s roots run deep. Growing up in the Bloomfield neighborhood, she learned the values of faith, service and perseverance from her family. Her father served as a career Airman in the United States Air Force, while her mother dedicated her career to education. During her father’s deployment to Vietnam, Tangie and her mother lived with her grandmother, one of the first Black women employed by the Keebler Company in Macon. Those early experiences taught her the importance of neighbors helping neighbors and inspired a lifelong commitment to public service.
